Why I'm Running for Campbell River Mayor

Hello.

Campbell River City Hall - Municipal Election 2022

Some of you will know me and many of you will not. I’m Kermit Dahl and I’m running for the Mayor's seat on council in the October 15th municipal election.

I’d like to start by recognizing we are on the territory of the Laich-Kwil-Tach people of the Wei Wai Kum and We Wai Kai First Nations.

I’d Like to recognize the years of service Andy Adam’s has dedicated to the city of Campbell River. And Andy & Karen, I hope you enjoy your retirement!

A lot of people ask me, 'Why? Why run for Mayor?'

And I can tell you I’ve put a lot of thought into that question myself. I’ve woken up many nights to think “What are you thinking” or “Am I the right person at the right time for the city of Campbell River?”, or simply “Do you need this?"

I can assure you that I don’t need to be mayor - if I was thinking of just myself or my family, I’d just sit back and run my business and enjoy weekends with our kids and our grand daughter.

But with a talented group of candidates - Ben Lanyon, Doug Chapman, Andy Gaylor, Susan Sinnott, Ron Kerr and Sean Smythe - that have put their names forward, I believe I am the right person at the right time for Campbell River.

In coming weeks I will be posting more information about what a productive cohesive council can do to reduce tax increases, improve our downtown safety and housing attain ability

Thank you - I’m Kermit Dahl. Nice to meet you.
